Snap Server Data Recovery

Snap Servers originally by Quantum, sold under Quantum Snap Division, Quantum Snap Server, Dell Snap Server, Snap Appliance and now Adaptec Snap Server are all the same system. NAS Storage.

Snap Server 110, 210, 410, 510, 520, 550, 1100, 2200, 4000, 4100, 4200, 18000

Operating Systems: Snap OS or Guardian OS. The OS is proprietary, this is why you can not run standard Unix or Linux recovery software. DRC has developed software and techniques to recover these Operating Systems.

Drive Configurations: JBOD, Raid Levels 0, 1 and 5

Common problems with Snap Servers are: 1 Drive fails or gets orphaned from the system or the raid. This can happen from an error on the drive in the sector to a complete failure. In either case a check disk will run to see if there are any errors. In most cases it will fail and the Drive or Raid will not mount. Repairing the Drive or bringing it back on line will not help to mount the system at this point. Running check disk over and over again will not solve the problem. It will make matters worse since it can write bad information back to the Drive(s).

Two drives go offline from the raid. This causes a defunct or broken raid. The system can not rebuild itself or the drives brought back into the raid. The OS is not capable of handling this.

Data can be recovered from these errors and others. With the directory structure and file names intact.

If you have been told that it can not be recovered or you have to settle for a raw recovery. Don’t, call us to find out what is really possible. We have recovered Data from these scenarios and worse.
